Present and Negative


Kei te _ & E _ ana

Both constructions "kei te _" and "e _ ana" are used to show the present tense or a state of being in Māori. For a more detailed explanation click here.
e.g.
Kei te pēhea koe - How are you
E pai ana ahau - I am good

It can also express present tense verbal phrases
e.g.
Kei te haere ahau - I am going
E waiata ana ahau - I am singing


Story 1

He tama a John e hiahia ana ki te ako i te reo Māori. He kaha tona hiahia ki te ako i tēnei reo, ko tana tino kaupapa he rapu mātauranga ngā tūpuna Māori.

I te mutunga o te wiki, ka puta a John ki te whakaharatau i tana Māori ki te taha o ngā tangata o te hapori. I tēnei wā, i kitea e ia ngā kaupapa o te ao Māori me ngā momo whanaungatanga.
